The Department of Defense’s military exchanges are joining forces to honor the service of all of America’s Veterans beginning this Veterans Day, marking the first expansion of exchange shopping privileges in nearly 30 years. On November 11 2017, the exchanges will welcome home potentially 13 million honorably discharged Veterans with a lifetime online shopping benefit., a single point of entry to verify eligibility for Veterans to shop all exchanges’ online stores, is now open.  It is a shared services verification site among all the exchanges using information from official government records. The sooner Veteran Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard Members, Airmen and Soldiers register, the better their chances to shop their exchanges of choice as a beta tester prior to the official launch on Veterans’ Day 2017.
“At the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, we are honored to again serve all honorably discharged Veterans for life,” said the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s Director/CEO Tom Shull. “Four years ago, the exchanges began working to recognize the service of millions of Veterans without exchange privileges while generating additional financial support for critical budget-constrained military Quality-of-Life programs. We are proud to stand with our sister exchanges as we welcome our Veterans home to their military family and protect and preserve hard-earned military benefits.  The exchanges currently provide more than $300 million in support to military Quality-of-Life programs annually.”
The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) has been preparing its webstore to deliver an exceptional customer experience to Veteran Sailors. “We are excited to be welcoming our shipmates back to the NEX,” said Rear Adm. Robert J. Bianchi (Ret), Chief Executive Officer, NEXCOM. “At NEXCOM we are dedicated to providing all of our Sailors, whether Active Duty, Reserve, Retired or Veterans with the PREMIER quality-of-life products and services they so richly deserve. Inviting Veterans to shop online is just another way for us to honor them for their patriotism and service to our country.”
The Coast Guard Exchange’s leadership is excited to salute the service of all Veteran Coast Guard members beginning this Veterans Day. "The Coast Guard Exchange is delighted to join our DoD military resale partners in extending the online shopping benefit to honorably discharged Veterans,” said Capt. Robert Whitehouse, Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Community Services Command. “We pride ourselves in serving those who protect and defend the Homeland and are excited to be part of this effort."
According the Marine Corps Exchanges’ leadership, there may be no better example of the strong identification former service members share with a specific branch of service than the Marines. “I proudly support the exchange online shopping initiative and can think of no better day to launch this initiative than Veterans Day,” said Cindy Whitman Lacy, Marine Corps Exchange Director of Business and Support Services at Headquarters Marine Corps Manpower and Reserve Affairs.  “It’s an honor to now provide this service and benefit to our well-deserving Veterans. Once a Marine, always a Marine. This initiative is one of many ways to keep our community connected.”
When it launches, the Veterans online shopping benefit will offer Veterans tax-free shopping and military exclusive pricing via the military exchanges’ websites at,, and Veterans who shop the military exchanges online will also reduce American taxpayers’ burden to fund on-installation programs as military exchanges function as co-ops with all earnings generated returned to the Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, Army or Air Force Quality-of-Life programs. Additional earnings created as a result of the Veterans online shopping benefit will support Child Development Centers, Youth Program, Fitness Centers, affordable school lunches for Warfighters’ children overseas and more, making the lives of service members and their families better wherever they serve.
