Privacy Policy

This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for MilitaryLife.com. Internet user privacy is of paramount importance to MilitaryLife.com, our users, advertisers, and Web publishers.

Information Collection and Use

MilitaryLife.com collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site. This information can be generally divided into two categories:

Personally identifiable information such as your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Personally identifiable information is collected by specifically requesting it from you and generally occurs when you register at our site, request a service, or enter an online contest or sweepstakes.

Non-personally identifiable information such as the server your computer is logged onto, your browser type, whether you responded to an ad appearing on our site and certain demographic information (such as age, gender and zip code). Non-personally identifiable information is anonymous in that it does not personally identify you, and may be used by us or shared with third parties. Non-personally identifiable information may be helpful for marketing purposes or for improving the services we offer. For example, MilitaryLife.com might tell its advertisers how many users visited a particular advertisement, and for how long, so they can measure whether the advertisement was effective. This information is also used to generate advertising rates. Generally, this information is collected through "traffic data" and may entail "cookies," "IP addresses," or other numeric codes used to identify a computer.

MilitaryLife.com is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, trade or rent this information to others in a way different from what is disclosed in this statement.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify users of our Web site, although they do identify a user's computer. Once a user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates. The use of cookies is an industry standard, and many Web sites use them to provide useful features for their customers. In the case of MilitaryLife.com, for instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site. For example, the user will not be able to participate in any or our Sweepstakes, Contests or monthly Drawings that take place. Cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our site.

Log Files

We use non-personally identifiable information, such as IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement, and gather broad, demographic information for aggregated use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Sharing

We may share non-personally identifiable information, such as aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal-identifiable information that can identify any individual person. We may use an outside shipping company to ship prizes. These companies will not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We partner with other parties to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.

Security

This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information.

When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and offline. If one of our partners has an order form asking users to enter sensitive information (such as credit number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the industry standard encryption software called Secure Sockets Layer or SSL. While on a secure page, such as an order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just surfing and are not on an SSL page. While SSL encryption is used to protect sensitive information online, MilitaryLife.com also has implemented industry standard procedures to protect user information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally-identifiable information.

We send our users site and service announcement updates. Users are not able to unsubscribe from service announcements, which contain important information about the service. We communicate with our users to provide requested services and to handle any issues related to their use of our site via e-mail or regular mail.

At that point, our users will have a choice as to whether or not they wish their information to be used in this different manner.
