Every day, America loses about 1,500 veterans, and with each goes a piece of our history. In response to this urgent need, Congress created the Veterans History project in October 2000 , which calls on the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress to collect and preserve the oral histories and documents of our war veterans. militarylife.com is a proud partner in this project, and we invite your participation. For more information and to read our collection of interviews, go to our Veterans History Project section.

Sometimes pictures really do speak louder than words. We're proud of our collection of photos and memories from a wide variety of sources, from Christmas in Korea to rice paddies in Vietnam to a wounded Pentagon. Click on the thumbnails below to browse each photo essay -- and watch this space for new ones in the future!
